Medicare Part D: What You Should Know as a Provider
The Medicare Part D drug coverage program began in January 2006, out of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. Medicare consumers, who may already be enrolled in both Parts A and B, must enroll separately if they choose Part D coverage.
The Annual Enrollment Period for Part D runs from November 15 – December 31. During this period Medicare consumers can enroll in a plan or change their enrollment from one plan to another. Individuals who do not switch plans will remain in their current plan.
